Pijashig Conversation Circle: Welcome Everyone In-Person

International Students are invited to attend Pijashig Conversation Circle: Welcome Everyone, a space for newcomers to connect and learn about the experiences, worldviews, and contributions of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Pijashig means 'Welcome Everyone' in the Anishinabe language.

Anita Tenasco is Anishabe Algonquin from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation, an educator, and the Director of Indigenous Initiatives at Algonquin College. She is excited to share with you about her Nation’s culture, language, and history, and to answer any questions you might have.

What You Can Expect

  • Participate in a conversation circle led by Anita

  • Enjoy traditional tea, coffee and Bannock – a special snack!

  • Learn more about Algonquin People’s culture, history and worldview through:

  • Listening to stories

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Algonquin Nation before celebrations happening at the College during Indigenous Peoples Month (June).
